3M™ 346 Heavy Duty Protective Tape is a 16.7 mil flatback paper tape built for demanding surface protection tasks. Its rubber-based adhesive bonds firmly to metals, plastics, and finished surfaces while allowing clean removal for up to six months, and the weather-resistant paper backing delivers reliable abrasion resistance in both indoor and outdoor conditions.
This large-format 12-inch width makes it well suited for wide-surface masking in metal fabrication shops, automotive finishing lines, and industrial manufacturing environments where standard-width tapes would require multiple overlapping passes. It is also used for bundling, in-process protection during storage, and securing materials during transit preparation.
The tape is 16.7 mil thick and should be applied to surfaces between 60°F and 100°F for optimal adhesion. Each roll measures 12 inches wide by 60 yards long and is sold individually, making it practical to order the exact quantity your operation requires.
